Louder Than Before – UPCCC LTI 2009

i have been to soooo many of these that i have literally lost count. But i am nonetheless thankful because i know that what may be “just another LTI” or Leadership Training Institute for one person may be “the turning point” for another. So despite the fact that i’ve been attending and speaking at LTIs for the last 27 years, i was thankful to have the chance to see God changing lives right upfront once again. In all 60+ UPCCC students came, including several delegates from some churches. i had the chance to give three talks during the week – The Challenge of Spiritual Multiplication, Learning to Pray and The Priority of Developing our Relationship with God. Honestly, given the quality of the students in attendance, i would’ve wanted to give more talks! What a privilege to influence these students for Christ, even as i anticipate that they will all graduate some day and represent Him in some form or another in some place of influence over our nation or the world.
One highlight for me this year was having (for the first time to my recollection) an LTI outreach WITH our alumni that involved not only sharing the Gospel but also being of some “earthly good.” On Friday, October 30, our delegates travelled all the way from Rizal to Quezon City to do several things at one of our adopted areas for rehabilitation – Barangay Bagong Silangan. First we had door to door evangelistic lunch fellowships with residents from the Tumana area of the barangay. Then our volunteers divided into three groups to do three things – a Disaster and Risk Reduction Seminar, a youth program, and a children’s program designed to help the participants process their traumatic experience with Ondoy. (When CCC first visited this area many weeks ago, they had coffins right beside them at the evacuation center.)
So, in a very real sense, this really was not “just another LTI” And there really was a sense in which the students were living our their lives and their faith even just a little bit “louder than before.”
Would you join me in prayer? “Lord, we thank you for the seeds that You planted the hearts of our students and in those they reached out to. Now we pray that you will preserve the fruits that have appeared until they are ripe for your harvest. We pray that those students you are calling into ministry will respond in faith and that those you are calling into the marketplace will remember this experience and use it as a partial template of how they ought to conduct their lives as a lifestyle for a lifetime. Amen!”
Can you see how your prayers have made a difference? Don’t give up!
