i love these people.  They’re not perfect, far from it, but i just genuinely LOVE them. They are my family in Living Waters Philippines, a group i volunteer with on top of my regular work at Philippine Campus Crusade for Christ.

Last November 5-14, i spent a number of days working with them in introducing some people to what inner healing is and then training those who are interested in helping others dealing with things like that as well.  Although the work was, to be blunt, HEAVY, the working relationship among us was decidedly light.  i love that about this bunch of people – especially considering how broken of all our backgrounds are.  It really is a living out of the biblical truth that “God uses the foolish things in this world to confound the wise.”

The concept of wounded healers is certainly not original to us, but we have definitely been living it out – whether in helping others who have struggled with suicidal thoughts, or experiences of childhood sexual abuse, or parental abandonment, Living Waters Philippines is proof that there really is HOPE.

This is why, despite busyness in my own personal ministry with PCCC,  i still do thank God for the opportunity to volunteer with this wonderful “whacked out” seeking-greater-wholeness people.  They make it easy to love them.
